  • Kathy Korman Frey, Founder of The Hot Mommas Project
  • Nadja Giuffrida, Founder of Dextro Knowledge and Dextro Consulting
  • Kristina Tanasichuk, President and Founder of Women in Homeland Security and CEO of Government Technology & Services Coalition.

NAWBO Greater DC created the Woman of Distinction Award to recognize and show appreciation for women in the greater DC area who advance women's business in a meaningful way. The award winner and honorees will be announced during the chapter's Annual Meeting on June 9, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Tysons Corner.

"There are very driven and successful women business owners in our area doing remarkable things to advance women's business and enabling others to do the same," said Leslie Curran, President of NAWBO Greater DC. "The Woman of Distinction award is a way for us to honor and acknowledge these women and to show appreciation for their actions benefiting the members of NAWBO Greater DC and women business owners in our area and beyond."

The 2011 award Finalists were selected by the chapter's Board of Directors and the following individuals who served as Judges:

  • Kara Ariail, Partner at Jackson Lewis LLP
  • Cynthia de Lorenzi, founder and CEO of Success in The City
  • Molly Gimmel, Co-founder and Executive Vice President of Design To Delivery, Inc.
  • Carla Morelli, President of Mind Share Advisory
  • Joyce Nohowel, Vice President of Transitional Assistance & Design

"Nadja, Kathy and Kristina are stellar examples of the kind of person the chapter sought to recognize – strong, committed, innovative," said Carla Morelli, award judge and former chapter president. "Their impact on the women's business community is clear. They've opened doors to help women increase their business and given them forums for learning and growing. That's exactly who we want to thank. This inaugural year was inspiring. There are so many incredible women doing things that propel women's business forward. As judges, we were thrilled to see a diverse group of nominations. They were different people with different backgrounds, executing in different ways, yet all had the same goal in mind. We're excited to announce the winner on June 9th, and look forward to honoring many more women in the future."
